I've used before - it's a capable platform, can do a lot. The
documentation, however, was atrocious last time I looked, though I believe
it is supposed to be getting better now.
I had some concerns also with stability initially, but it hasn't caused
any problems in nearly half a year now.
I had hopes that their PTK (Portal Toolkit) would work out to be a very
useful set of classes for implementing intranets etc., but it wasn't in a
very usable state about half a year ago. If it's working better now, it
could be a good beginning.

Enhydra also looks interesting btw, for different reasons... development
is a lot more 'obvious' to me, but you get a lot less with the default
package.
