Hi
I'm looking for advice as to how to debug dialup networking problems. I've
recently been experiencing severe problems trying to connect to both indigo and
eircom from home and I'm wondering if I'd be justified in trying to get Eircom
to look at the line. The had to repair it recently (I had no dialtone at all)
and it was only after they fixed that fault that the dialup problems appeared.
When I try to connect using kppp I usually get a dialog saying 'Timed out
waiting for ppd to come up', but sometimes kppp dies with the message
'recvmesg: truncated message: Success' on the console. Using wvdial I get the
message 'Returning not ok!!', then '--> Disconnecting at...'. Is there anything
I can do to collect more information?
Thanks in advance
Barry
