Hi,
Thanks to all for your help (and patience with a newbie) so far.
This one is a quickie... I have a http access log file on my isp (IOL) which
is getting huge .. almost 28MB now..
I was ftp'ing it to local machine to run some log analysis stuff.
Is there an easier way.. Can I run log analysis on a remote file.. I can
telnet to my isp, and get a bash prompt, but it seems to be a *very* limited
shell.. no grep, or tail, or anything I recognise like that.
How can I get a portion of this log file analysed without having to download
the whole thing.
Can I put a some sort of script up there to do the analysis, and send me the
results ?
(My ftp proggie just told me it would take 3 hours to download on my poor
little 56K modem !!)
Any suggestions ?
Declan
