Apologies for the blatant job posting but we're finding it increasingly
difficult to find decent admins out there with experience in Solaris. I'll skip
the wonderful marketing stuff about how brilliant ireland.com is and skip
straight to the job specs for who are interested...
[1] Systems Administrator (Ref: SA-I)
As systems administrator, you will provide day to day support, manage upgrades
and perform capacity planning for ireland.com's core systems. Ideally you
should have a mixture of the following:
- Excellent Solaris and Linux skills
- 2+ years systems administration experience
- Experience with Sun SPARC servers hardware and StorEdge disk arrays
- Experience of TCP/IP networking, backups, and web servers required.
- Knowledge of Samba, NFS, DiskSuite, VxVM, VxFS, and Legato useful.
- Basic operator level NT experience
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non technical colleagues
- Sun cluster and/or Oracle 8i knowledge
[2] Network & Security Administrator (Ref: NSA-I)
As network & security administrator, you will be responsible for both LAN and
WAN environments and associated security of ireland.com's network. Ideally you
should have a mixture of the following:
- Must have strong knowledge of TCP/IP and DNS.
- Experience with Nortel/Bay and Cisco hardware required
- Knowledge of VRRP, HSRP, OSPF and X.21 desirable.
- Should have good background in UNIX (Solaris) and Firewall management.
- Checkpoint Firewall 1 CCSA or CCSE preferred.
- Experience with layer 3-7 switching devices an advantage.
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non technical colleagues.
Successful applicants would be made PAYE employees of The Irish Times New Media
