[ILUG] Mandrake Problems

Hi ,

I have been having head wrecking problems trying to install linux
mandrake, and I was wondering if anyone could help.

During the install , while copying files (and that is the only part of
the install that ever gives problems), my machine locks up . If I do
a really minimal install (about 70 megs) it will get through, if i do a
larger install (say 600) it might get half way through but then lock,
there doesnt seem to be any problem with the cd, there is no
single package causing problems. If i get the 70 meg install up and
running, i then get segmentation faults on just about every fourth
package i try to install with RPM.

My System is as follows (there are a few more cards, but I've tried
to install with them removed with no difference).

Dual Celeron 533,s

Asus Bx chipset motherboard

176mb ram (128 + 32 + 16)

6.5 GB Seagate UDMA 33 hard disk drive

Asus GeForce 2 MX 32MB

24x Pioneer CDROM

My Thanks to anyone with any ideas.

Sean
