[ILUG] [Way Way OT] Domain names registration laws

Comerford, Wayne wayne.comerford at bowneglobal.ie

Yeah, He registered his domain name with
register.com for 35$ for one year.
I really don't think he has a chance because
the domain name he registered could be compared
to something like microsoft-ireland.com but in
a different field of business.

I remember something about you having to have a "trade mark" to
protect your name from other companies. It's not my area so I couldn't
be sure what could happen. Just as long as I'm not dragged into it.

Has your friend already registerd the verybigcompany domain name???

If he has, then I wonder if the verybigcompany can do anything about it or
not.

I did see something lately about a change in the laws in the USA to prevent
people registering domain names of big companies and then selling thgem on
to them for exhorbitant amounts. Not sure if that applies here or not.

Mike
