depends on UPS. Is it "dumb" or "smart". Ie dumb UPS's just toggle a line
when the power goes, and no more. Smart UPS's like Best/APC smartups
actually have their own serial com's protocol and can report loads of useful
info back to a daemon..

so what do you have?
