Yes that's exactly it. 
I guess that  'at times' I feel that this list
verges on OS bigotry where everything that isn't 
linux is wrong. I just wanted to point out that
I was using an alternative for a while and really like it. 
I never thought that I would say this as I have never
been a fan of MS stuff before ( except VB and Visual Studio ) 

As for Turbo C in DOS. I learned C on it using K&R. 
Yes I have fond memories but ultimately you use
the tool that suits you and the job best ( even if it is Windows )
