[ILUG] KDE2 in action

[ILUG] KDE2 in action

I downloaded a small script from freshmeat at the weekend that helps to
build KDE2 from source. It doesn't do much, you have to go download the
source yourself (cvsup is very nice for that :).
Most of the source failed to compile (including Koffice which I was
hoping to get a look at) but kwin did compile as well as enough
libraries to get it working and it looks nice so far. New themes are
nice, konqueror renders HTML very well, it displayed
www.tradesignals.com perfectly, as it did with cork.linux.ie but it
didn't display the ILUG banner on www.linux.ie nor did it display the
tables properly on io.linux.ie.. It also crashes if you don't put a
http:// in front of a URL.
The much vaunted object communication thing they've been talking about
didn't make much of an appearance, probably through my own fault.
Clicking on an image fired up the Gimp to view it. Perhaps kview didn't
compile..
The control panel had a few new features. Can't remember them all, but
it impressed.

Anyway, I'm going to keep the CVS current at home and compile it every
few days. Might do the same with Gnome as that might be closer to a
stable release of their development branch. Good use of Esat Surf No
Limits :)

Donncha.
