AFAIR recentish Macs store the boot device in the PRAM so it shouldn't
matter that you nuked the disk. Is the MkLinux CD really bootable ? If so,
you should be able to boot from it by holding down the C key while turning
on the power - this forces a boot from CD.

Of course, but you'd have to make one or have one.

How could you boot off an image ? You need bootable media. The newest Macs
can do a net boot, but I don't suppose you have one of those.
