does a PASV type connection work?
it sounds like maybe they got the ports fixed (or are you behind 
a firewall?). FTP uses one port to connect, and then does all the
data transfer on another one, which means that masquerading can be
problematic (most of them support FTP now, but it's still an extra
step).
