 In which case, they shouldn't blame the OS.

 I spent six hours trying to setup a modem on Windows (my mum's machine),
and got a few friends to give it a shot too.

 In the end, I gave up, and installed Linux. Took about two minutes to get
it working, using that method I posted. Seems that the line is flaky
though - it drops connection every five-ten minutes. Prolly why it
wouldn't work with Windows at all.

 Never thought I'd be showing my mum how to use "ifup ppp0". <grin> The
family really like the idea that no one can delete there files without
asking them ('course I didn't give *them* the root password).
