Thanks for the note about scsi for CD-RW's. I had a good read of the CD writing
HOW-TO, got the latest kernel and 'Bob's your uncle!' Now my CD-RW is recognised
by xcdroast! Next task is to get something to write.
I also got my printer working! It's great to get a few days to sit at the PC and
just figure out how things work. I'll have another few reads and see what else I
can get working. I think I'll tackle the scanner next. The main problem with
that is Debian is rather out-dated. Last time I tried to up-date, I broke things
terribly. But the next release is just about stable now, plus I can back-up my
system to bootable CD's for recovery first.
