As in, if you delete a message in one window, and then get the other
window to read the folder index again, it'll say "Folder changed.
Rereading" or something.

Not sure that you are at. I just ran fetchmail at home, read & replyed to
them, then ran "ifup ppp0;sendmail -q -v; ifdown ppp0". Worked for me.
