And it doesn't require a major rewrite of all those ACS pages for
interfacing with Aolserver? ;-) Even so I think that the cost of the db
is about $500.

Interbase (version 4.0 is free on Linux and the new version is going to
be Open Source) is a good db - it also has a fairly small footprint and
has very good documentation.
