David Owens of Red Hat Ireland just rang enquiring about advertising on
linux.ie and specifically advertising Golbal Knowledge training.
I told him that the site was already sponsored, I think I mentioned it
was running on Debian Linux, and that linux.ie doesn't accept
advertising banners..
I also expressed my own view on training which is shared by a number of
members of ILUG (experience counts, catch 22 of managers looking for
certs..) which he found interesting.
Finally he asked how they could advertise the training, to which I
replied that I didn't know.
Perhaps a jobs related section on the site? Is there one already? can't
remember!
We need to be completely neutral here obviously, listing each training
course/resource in some set fashion (alphabetical?), links to Irish jobs
sites too, with maybe a link to a search for the word Linux or Unix on
them too.. jobfinder.ie and topjobs.net I think are ones advertised on
tv recently.
Interestingly, Markus in Corel is doing a presentation at some show in
Dublin in a few months time and wanted some hard facts about Linux
usage, and resources in Ireland. I haven't been able to help him there
as I've been too busy myself, but some sort of page on the site
describing training and support issues might help. He actually needs
those facts right now so anything any of you have, please mail me
off-list if you think you can help.
Donncha.
