I currently have 24 virtual terminals setup with linux and i was wondering
if there was a way to get certain terminals to auto-login as the user i
select and start running a certain program when the system boots, like on
/dev/tty12 i want it to login as root and run tail -f /var/log/messages,
and for /dev/tty24 i want it to login as root and run trafshow(a
sniffer) and on /dev/tty13 i want it to login as the user i irc with and
start BitchX, and on /dev/tty14 i want it to login as the user i use for
e-mail and start pine.
For those wondering how i use 24 terminals here's a piece of my
/etc/inittab:
c1:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty1 linux
c2:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty2 linux
c3:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty3 linux
c4:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty4 linux
c5:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty5 linux
c6:12345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty6 linux
c8:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty8 linux
c9:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty9 linux
c10:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty10 linux
c11:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty11 linux
c12:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty12 linux
c13:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty13 linux
c14:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty14 linux
c15:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty15 linux
c16:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty16 linux
c17:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty17 linux
c18:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty18 linux
c19:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty19 linux
c20:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty20 linux
c21:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty21 linux
c22:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty22 linux
c23:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty23 linux
c24:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty24 linux
I use left-alt+f1-f12 for the first 12, and right-alt+f1-f12 for 13-24.
Btw, i don't want to hear the obvious rants on auto-login of a root user,
i am well aware of the risks but i still want to know how to do this, any
help is appreciated.
