Books are VAT free in Ireland and the UK. The only problem area is where
the book includes a CD which is VATable. Magazines are VATable, in
addition to being vastly overpriced here. It is far better to subscribe
to them directly. For example, Business 2.0 is about £5.50 in the local
bookshop here - I subbed and the cost including airmail is about £35 per
year. I was mulling over subbing to the Linux Journal but I find the web
a better source of info.
