{ My (pre-PNP) ISA SoundBlaster 16 actually has an IDE interface
{ that I _could_ hook up as ide2, giving me hde and hdf. However,
{ there are a few problems with this:
{
{ o ISA performance sucks. Might not be too bad for CDs...
{
{ o I have only _one_ IRQ left. And I want that for another
{    serial port soon.

  same here.

{
{ o No EIDE. Don't know how well they'd work with large disks
{
{ You'll probably find that El Cheapo multi-I/O cards only
{ cater for IDE0 and IDE1. (And they are usually ISA as well.)
{
{ I'd imagine that PCI cards that support decent EIDE interfaces
{ would have such low demand that you'd be paying on the order
{ of a hundred quid.

  I was thinking of something like the Promise Ultra ATA 66 Controller Card,
  which is PCI and recently supported in Linux (the 33 anyway)...

{
{ In that case, the best thing to do is buy bigger disks and sell
{ off your older smaller ones. How big are your current
{ disks? I might take them for a reasonable price :-)

  Me disk is big, 13Gb, or have I been asleep. I don't want for more
  disk space, scsi takes care of that for now. I was thinking of other
  ide devices, CD burners... etc..

{
{ Later,
{ Kenn
