er.... yes.
there's libc to start with. then there's xlib, gtk, qt, and others for
gui stuff. curses for char terms. oss and alsa for sound.
and all of this assumes c. for c++, perl, tcl/tk, fortran, scheme,
guile, oberon, java, python, intercal, and others there are other api's.
