{ since i:

  Here goes a twaddle

USB is being developed in the 2.3 development kernels, not supported
   in the stable 2.2 kernels.

However there is a back patch.

   You'll find it on http://www.suse.cz/development/usb-backport/
Its for the 2.2.14 kernel. One big diff file (330923 bytes big).

To apply this patch cd to the dir above the 2.2.14 kernel source.
   Apply the patch via:

        patch < /path/to/the/diff/file

The patch also patches up the menu stuff, so you can go and use:

        make xconfig

   to configure USB for linux...

For the stable and bleeding edge kernels there is a HOWTO at
        http://www.dynamine.net/linux-usb/HOWTO/

Theres quite a bit supported, see:

        http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/

John, if you need any more info, and you're in the dublin area theres
me and others willing to give a hand.
