[ILUG] Bootable business card CD-Rs

[ILUG] Bootable business card CD-Rs

Niall O Broin niall at magicgoeshere.com

OK - a number of points have arisen, so here are some answers (could be
guessing on some of these :-) )

ETA

CD-Rs arrived in Cologne last night around 2300. Isn't UPS tracking
wonderful ! However, I know don't expect to see them before Monday, but I
could be surprised.

Compatible Burner

The CD-Rs are 2x/4x certified, and should be burnable in any try loading
burned with a depression in the tray for mini-CDs.

Burn Team

Lots of volunteers to burn, so should be no problem there.

Getting blanks

Many people asked if they could have blanks - of course. When I get the
goods, I'll liaise with Donncha as to who ordered what. Initial distribution
will be at the AGM.

Customised ISO image

This is definitely a bigger issue than any of us first thought (OK, admit
it, nobody really thought) and I don't think it'll be resolved by the AGM.
We'll burn whatever number people want of the standard download from
Linuxcare, and will continue to investigate the customisation. I had a look
on Linuxcare and there is a 120MB source tgz there, so that might be a place
to start. Maybe someone with a reasonable pipe could slurp that, and perhaps
we could get a few CDs burnt for the differently connected (is that PC
enough) who are interested in the customisation project.

I think that's it - I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong. I'm off to bed.

Regards,

Niall
