                 SAIR LINUX & GNU CERTIFICATION
                      NEWSLETTER ISSUE 5

Dear Sair Linux & GNU Supporters:

It's shaping up to be an eventful and exciting summer for Sair
Linux and GNU Certification. Corporate training centers are
signing up as Sair Accredited Centers of Education around the
U.S., Europe and Australia. In addition, Sair will have a strong
presence at a number of major Linux conferences this summer,
including Global Linux 2000 in Seoul, Korea June 14-17, and the
Linux World Conference and Expo in San Jose, Calif. Aug. 15-1.

As the Sair Linux and GNU Certification program continues to
grow, it's more important than ever to receive feedback and
participation from the Linux community. We welcome your comments
and suggestions!

Sincerely,

The Sair Linux and GNU Team

Sair, Inc. Acquired by Thomson Corporation

Sair, Inc. has been acquired by a billion-dollar, multinational
company, The Thomson Corporation, as part of a larger buy-out
agreement between Thomson and Wave Technologies, Sair, Inc.'s
parent company.

With 1999 revenues of $5.8 billion, The Thomson Corporation,
headquartered in Canada, is one of the world's leading e-
information and solutions companies. Thomson, which operates
mainly in the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom, acquired Wave
Technologies in March.

Sair Linux and GNU remains an independent and wholly owned
subsidiary of Wave. "This new arrangement provides our company
with the resources and funding of a global business giant while
allowing us to maintain our distribution-neutral status," said
Sair, Inc. founder and CEO Dr. Tobin Maginnis. "It opens up a new
world of exciting possibilities both for Sair and for the open-
source community as a whole."

Sair to Lead Seminars at Global Linux 2000

Sair, Inc. will conduct a full track of seminars at the Global
Linux 2000 Exhibition and Conference, to be held June 14-17 in
Seoul, Korea. Sair will lead six half-day seminars two per day
for three days covering a range of Linux topics. The event,
hosted by Korea's Ministry of Information and Communication, will
be the first large-scale global Linux fair in Asia and is
expected to draw 10,000 to 15,000 participants. It's aimed at
bringing professional Korean Linux/GNU-related companies together
with overseas companies and investors to share ideas and
knowledge and to explore new business opportunities.

"We are excited to have Sair's participation in this milestone
event," said Timothy Ney, managing officer of the Free Software
Foundation and conference chair for Global Linux 2000. "The
Korean government has officially endorsed Linux as the business
operating system of the future and wants to make Korea a Linux
and GNU center. As a company, Sair has made a commitment to the
goals and ideals of the free software movement while advancing
the cause of Linux and GNU in the global business community
through the Sair Linux and GNU Certification program. Thus, it's
only fitting that Sair take a leading role at this conference."

Sair representatives will lead seminars on topics ranging from
Samba and Apache software to kernel optimizations, advanced
network configurations, free and open-source database options and
the X Window System.

Various leading Linux figures from around the world are expected
to participate in the event. Keynote speakers include Richard
Stallman, founder of the GNU Project and one of the leaders of
the free software movement, and Eric Raymond, a Linux pioneer,
consultant and author of several books dealing with open-source
systems. Both Stallman and Raymond are members of the Sair Linux
and GNU Certification Advisory Board.

Sair to Offer Free Boot Camps, Testing at LinuxWorld

LinuxWorld Conference and Expo, the world's leading Linux
convention and trade show, has selected Sair Linux and GNU
Certification to deliver on-site Linux training and certification
at its upcoming convention Aug. 14-17 in San Jose, Calif. Sair
will offer free boot camps and testing for the Sair Linux and GNU
Certified Administrator (LCA) level during all four days of the
convention.

"LinuxWorld is proud to endorse Sair Linux and GNU Certification
and to include it in our conference," said Rob Scheschareg, vice
president of events for LinuxWorld. "Sair's program is
recognized worldwide as a proven leader in quality, vendor-
neutral Linux education. We look forward to working with Sair to
promote their program and provide it to our show participants."

The free offer, valued at $5,100, is available only to pre-
registered conference attendees. Sair Linux and GNU Certification
training materials for the LCA level will be mailed to those
participants prior to the event. The LinuxWorld program will
include in-depth reviews of the materials, immediately followed
by Sair Linux and GNU testing delivered by Thomson Prometric.

Reviews and exams will be offered consecutively over all four
days of the conference and will last about two-and-a-half hours
per module. All modules of the LCA level will be covered each
day, including Linux Installation, System Administration, Network
Connectivity and Security, Privacy and Ethics. To accommodate
attendees' schedules, the boot camps and testing may be taken in
any order. However, to receive free testing on a specific layer,
the participant must first attend the corresponding boot camp.
Space is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Numerous partners of the Sair Linux and GNU program will
participate in the on-site program at LinuxWorld. Among them are
Thomson Prometric, Productivity Point International and the
Compaq Computer Corporation.

(LCE); and Level III Master Certified Engineer. Sair has a
contract with Sylvan Prometric for delivery of all 12 Sair Linux
