[ILUG] [ILUG]the newbie:episode one

hey,

I must really annoy most of the users on this list. I
have so many questions to ask and so many which are
answered by you good, good people yet I still don't
have Linux installed.

(that must have really annoyed you!)

I'm finding it really hard to install RedHat 5.2,
firstly the user info is very basic and they provide
you with little help on the issue of ext2 patitions
etc.

I've had little or no time to solve these problems and
can only take small steps towards full installation.

I have done the following:
-Split the partition on my d: drive using fips.
-converted this partition into ext2 using fdisk
-mounted the RH cdrom

Now the install wizard tells me that "root (/) is not
defined" its words not mine.

how do I define the root partition, then is there much
more that I need to know/define/create?

thanks very much for the help on the Perl file issue,

if you need me to help with anything in return I will
debug C files etc.(when I have Linux installed).

yet again sorry for asking too much,

Stephen.
