and the fact that a good recovery disk works is why it's pointless
to have a password going into single user mode. in fact since you can just
type:
linux init=/bin/sh
you don't even need a recovery disk. and pw protecting lilo is pointless
since you can either use a recovery disk or just rip out the disk and
mount it elsewhere.
