You get a choice, LILO or GRUB.

On the X side, I had absolutely no probs with MDK 7.1 and XFree 4, or 
network cards, it even had a module for my SCSI controller which Redhat 
didn't. And someone has had the sense to ensure that all window managers 
come with the same apps listed in the same structure on their "Start 
Button". Good fun so far,
