I'm just after setting up a linux box in work at the moment, and have a
modem connection to the internet. However, I have a couple of problems.
Once the connection gets up and running tis fine, but it usually takes 20
or 30 attempts before the ISP validates the password and username, for no
apparent reason. Is this just caused by an overload at the ISP or whats
the story. Also, because of the need to keep trying until validated, I
just start wvdial running and let it off until the connection is
validated. However, the interval between attempts keeps doubling. First it
waits 5 seconds for a reconnect, then 10 and so on. How can I set this to
be a fixed value, so , try recoonecting every 10 second or so?
Thanks all
Paddy
