I have one (have had it for years - 'upgrade residue' I think is what Sun
call it) but I might like another one for an entirely different purpose.

Yes, they are, and I did use it for that kind of thing a lot when I had a
compatible drive in work. And the tapes are even cheaper when they're a
stores line item :-)
