[ILUG] Problem running 2.2.16 SMP on Compaq Proliant 800

We have a Compaq Proliant 800 (dual PPro/180) which we're trying to
recycle as a Linux machine. While it would run NT's SMP kernel just
fine, we're not having similar success with Linux:
