If you have a boot or rescue disk, then use that. You may need to go in to
the bios settings to ensure the floppy is booted before the first harddrive.

#Subject: [ILUG] Newbie Question!
#
#
#This is probably one of the stupidist things to do, but hey at the same
#time I bet it happens a lot as well (I hope)!
#The root password on a Redhat 6.0 box was changed and
#forgotten before I
#arrived at my new job where they gave me the job of
#maintaining the box! I
#had started trying to upgrade the Kernel but do not have the
#root password
#to do so.
#I have physical asccess to the box and so tried to type "linux
#single" at
#the LILO prompt but it times out before I get a chance to type
#the whole
#thing. Is there any other way I would be able to change the password?
#
#Thanks in advance,
