ok, here i am staring at my shell prompt. on my desk is a copy of
o'reilly's programming web graphics open to the pages on postscript
and perl. i'm drawing a blank. :)
here's the story: i have a mysql data source filled with stuff i need
to put into dead tree format. myself and others have built a very
nifty set of linux servers, but when it comes down to it the suits get
impressed by what shows up on pulp and web pages. so i'm experimenting
with postscript.
i'm trying the PostScript::Document class, but it seems to only support
PostScript::TextAreas not PostScript::Elements. and i'd really like to
be ably to do more than the line graphics PostScript::Elements supports -
maybe EPSF with PostScript::EPSF? are there cpan modules i'm missing?
(and why hasn't walnut creek sent me a new cpan cd?! their latest is
from last september!)
anyway, maybe perl is the wrong solution. i need something that i
can spit stuff out quickly (ie i'm not coding this in c unless there's
some super groovy ps lib), can connect to mysql, and has some postscript
libs of some sort. python? scheme? anyone tried doing similar things?
i'd prefer not to do it in java.
