I've got two PCs connected by a crossover cable, each with a 3c900b card
(10MB). If both PCs are booted using Linux, they can't ping each other (no
light on the back of the card either). If one is booted into Linux and
then the other into Windows, I need to ifconfig eth0 down; ifconfig eth0
up before they'll talk. If the boot order is reversed (i.e. Windows
machine then Linux), they talk without a bother.
The only way to get them to talk while both running Linux is to boot one
into Windows and do Shutdown/Restart and then boot into Linux!
Looks like Windows is initialising the cards somehow. Any ideas how I can
do this from Linux?
