[ILUG] UPS for home use?

[ILUG] UPS for home use?

Any ideas on (cheap) UPS for home use?

I want to UPS my server and firewall to keep my uptime (currently 27 days.
Cool eh?). I'm thinking of using whatever prog watches the power supply to
telinit into single mode, turn off everything bar the kernel and the UPS
watcher and come back up to multiuser mode once the power comes back on. I
can presumably spin down the disks and minimise the consumption that way.

The question is...

What sort of power consumption should I expect for a system in this mode and
what sort of UPS could I get to keep something like this up for say 12
hours? If the power is going to be off for more than this, I could hire a
generator or something.

Anyone got an old UPS out there?
