[ILUG] Linux Newbie Question - Samba

[ILUG] Linux Newbie Question - Samba

Dave Burke dburke at compsoc.com

I went into my dad's school last week and installed RH6.1 on a new
Poweredge 1300 he got in. Within about 3 hours we had it installed, acting
as the PDC for the Win95/98 boxes and my dad mailed me this morning
telling me he now print across the network as well. The version that ships
wirth with 6.1 is samba-2.0.5a IIRC.

The O'Reilly Samba book is really cool as well, and its FREE! :)

DHCP can be done using dhcpd that ships with Redhat. I got control of our
dhcp server here last night and it's fairly easy to get working as well.

Hope this helps,
Dave
