[ILUG] [way OT] palm pilot connecting to ISP via Irda mobile

[ILUG] [way OT] palm pilot connecting to ISP via Irda mobile

Burke, Gary : GIG IS&T Gary.Burke at guinness.com
Tue Mar 7 11:52:21 GMT 2000

]	I'm trying to connect to an ISP with a
]palm pilot/irda mobile and it ain't working. It dials,
]connects (14400), and as per the login script
]waits for 'name:' - no quotes. I've tried oceanfree
]and indigo and both get stuck here.
]
]The phone is a motorola timeport. It's a IIIe pilot,
]with the irda enhancemant and OS 3.1.1 . I know
]that 3.3 improves irda stuff, but guess who didn't
]find out the IIIe isn't flash-upgradable until after
]he bought it. doh.

Mobile phones are restricted to 9600, so try reducing the speed on the IrDA
connections to see if that helps.
I have to admit that I haven't every connected to the Internet on a Palm,
but I did get it working with Windows RAS using a mobile phone - not IrDA
though. I have seen a PalmV working with an Ericsson mobile on IrDA without
any problems.
