My approach to this when I was doing a lot of remote admin. (half way
round the world over a piece of wet string - actually a 64K line which was
not just for me) was to have one window open on my local box for the
remote session, and a local window open with an editor wherein I could
craft my perfect command lines, then cut and paste them.
