[ILUG] How to load the new kernel

[ILUG] How to load the new kernel

Hello all,
I got a problem to load the new compiled kernel (2.2.14) in a
Alpha
a433 (miata) workstation with Redhat 6 (kernel 2.2.5-16), it couldn't
mount "fs" after I typed the command "boot sda1:/boot/new-kernel-image"
in Milo prompt. I really have no idea why that happened. So I thought
maybe the Milo running in the machine is broken, I downloaded several
versions of Milo (2.0.30, 2.0.35 .. and 2.2.13, 2.2.14 from
"http://www.suse.de/~stepan/source/". For the first two versions, I
couldn't compile them because errors occurred that the driver is using
an old PCI interface, I followed the hints to try to figure out the
problem, but I couldn't make it. For the latter two versions, I could
not use bzip2 to decompress them properly because it seems that the
files have been corrupted somehow, so could any of you please give me
some solutions and suggestions to get me out of the mess.
Any help appreciated!
Hai
