]There is a solution.  Register yourself as a sole trader, as BOI offer new
]business accounts free of transaction charges for 2 years! (No that is not
]what I Did! I am legit, honest ;))

Or open a savings account - there are no transaction charges.  Granted you
are not supposed to be able to setup Direct Debits, but it you ask them
really nicely, they might allow it (or if your big multinational company who
also uses the same bank jumps down their necks).
