B.Sc here. It was a prerequisite, and still is if you want a job. I know
some companies will take something like 7 years experience as the equiv. to
a degree, but in most cases, I believe at least some qualification is
necessary.
I remember a few years ago doing a mock interview, and being told at it that
at least something would be necessary, no matter what it was. The better it
was, the more chance of getting a job. Even a FAS Computer course (which is
12 weeks) is taken as something, in the eyes of a potential employer (though
don't expect to get anything better than a PC support job).
