personally, I'd choose college over work any day of the week.  The trick
being to do it properly (i.e. winning the lotto before going back, or saving
up vast sums of money :).  Being able to experiment with new things (and
old) is always great, and to me, that was the biggest benefit of college.
You just don't get the chance to do that while you're working (or at least I
don't - when German standards dictate NT, dont argue :)).

I only asked this question, because although I can program in several
languages, platforms, Databases etc. , I love to have the oppertunity to
spend time exploring other things which I've come across. Also for all the
books out there, there do not 'seem' to be many on general (non-language/
platform specific) programming concepts. Steve O'Connells ,Code Complete ,
is one of the few I've come across, but maybe looking in the wrong places.

However there is so much work now (well paid too!) you think it would be mad
