[ILUG] Compile problems??

[ILUG] Compile problems??

Hello all,
I just installed RH6.1 and it came with Apache 1.3.9 so I thought yahoo!
Now PHP3 does not come with mysql support built in nor ldap or imap etc etc
so I downloaded 3.14 and 3.15. and then 3.13
Now in the 3.15 (PHP) the file INSTALL.REDHAT says that RH (as usual) made
a boo boo by not including the proper apache-devel rpm. however it then
goes on to tell you how to fix it. So I did. So cool enough. I then ran
configure as follows:

./configure --with-apxs=/usr/sbin/apxs --with-mysql --with-imap --with-xml

And go no errors on the configure.
Then I ran make and make install with no errors.

So I edited my httpd.conf file to make sure everything was in working order
and checked the permissions. All well.
The I restarted the server but it just starts up and then dies a horrible
death. There is nothing in the error logs and i am getting quite fustrated
trying to figure this out. The same happens when I use 3.14 and 3.13.

The only message i get is when I check the status of Apache. it says:

httpd dead but subsys locked.

Can anyone help at all I am wondering.

Thanks
Aj
