If you have setup Samba with "security = server", then logon
requests from client machines (which happens the first
time you try to map a drive or browse down via network
neighbourhood) will be forwarded to your NT domain
controllers. To the domain controllers, the log-on
request looks like it's coming from the Samba server,
not your client machine.

It's possible in the NT user manager to limit the workstations
that a user is allowed to log into. If that's set up for
you, and the Samba server isn't listed, then it's going to
get tricky.

Best solution one is to add your Samba server to the NT
domain (if your domain admins let you). Connections to
Samba work faster this way as well.

The alternative is to try using security=user. You'll then
have to make sure that the passwords in smbpasswd are kept
up to date.

Later,
Kenn
