Hey.
We had a low-ish turn out - prolly mainly due to a bus strike, but also
because we only had two confirmed speakers, and would be talking about the
constition.
The outcome;
Most people we quite happy with the current constitution, as it is (some
changes were supposed to be mailed to me today to be included); however,
it was decided that an "Addendum" of some sort, to explain parts of it
that may, at first glance look pointless or fascist.
It was decided that we should try hold an ILUG General Meeting next
month. Being dubliners, we decided that Trinity College would be an
excellent venue, though if someone has a better idea...
The General Meeting would discuss the final draft of the constitution,
get it signed, and then discuss any things that ILUG should get into,
over the next while. Getting registered as a society would be a cunning
one, as then we could even do things like setup a working group to come up
with a recommendation to the minister of Education as to how schoolkids
would benefit from exposure to free software (specifically spawning
programmers - something that the destruction of the 8-bits, Amigas & ST's
by Windows-machines did), or how government departments could save money
by giving more consideration to the use of Linux etc.
And then we'ed all find a massive pub, and get ossified. Or go to a
comedy club. Or something.
