Vignette is not worth it.
It's nice, caching features are cool, and tcl is really quite a nice
scripting language to be playing with (though they implement 7.6 (when
it's now up to 8.2), and don't even think about their own special
bastardised version of tcl commands), but not really worth the hassle.
You're much better off with Midgard.
Even for publishing high volume sites, not worth it, there's a load of
good free stuff out there you can get in and fix, if it annoys you
enough. With StoryServer you're stuck with what they give you.
(Been using it a year now. A painful year. Ah, and we've got it slapped
onto a Sybase database.)
