[ILUG] Eircom offering ISDN lines.

Hi,

My father got some blurb from Eircom today about ISDN lines. They're calling
it "eircom hi-speed". Here's some of the bumph:

"eircom hi-speed is a high-speed, dual channel, digital line that makes the
biggest difference where you need it most"

In terms of getting it, they say, "All we have to do is upgrade your
existing phone line to eircom hi-speed. The monthly rental is just £29(ex.
VAT). We don't have to lay any new cables, so there's minimal disruption to
your service. Better still, you can keep your existing phone number.....the
rental of the exisiting PSTN line will cease."

The price of the upgrade is £81.81 (ex VAT) and it seems the service is
subject to a site survey and availability. There is no mention of the charge
for the calls or the actual speed of the connection (2 x 64k??), but they do
say that use of both channels would constitute 2 calls and be charged
accordingly. Plus, they mention that additional equipment may be required.

"Maybe" it mnight be an option for the home user eventually?

Mike
