One way is using a wildcard MX record. That's generally perceived a bad idea.
 http://www.sendmail.org/faq/section4.html#4.1
 DNS&BIND 3rd ed p.378
The latter doesn't actuall say it's a bad idea, only that it's dangerous :)

 Alternatives:

 o sendmail: mailertable; FEATURE(`mailertable')

   entry:

     .dom.net	smtp:[mail.dom.net]

The brackets turn off MX lookups.

 o postfix: transport table; transport_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/transport

   entry:

     .dom.net	:[mail.dom.net]

As the default transport is smtp, it can be omitted (the part before the
colon on the RHS). The brackets turn off MX lookups.

 But this doesn't work.

If there are no MX records for anything.dom.net, mail will be sent to
anything.dom.net directly (ie. the A record), and not to mail.dom.net.
