Well a quick check shows that it does support pam, so you'd be able to use
dave airlie's pam_smb. But there was also a SMB directory in the
auth_modules and according to it's website it...."is a proxy
authentication module. With smb_auth you can authenticate proxy users
against an SMB server like Windows NT"

Never used either, I use ncsa_auth for authenicating with squid, but
obhiously possible.
