It's on ftp.iol.ie, if that's any good to you? If you have good net
connectivity, doing an ftp installation is very painless. I've done FTP
installations over dialup links before, but it is a little slow -- the base
distribution is about 40 megs compressed.

FreeBSD, probably. It's much easier to set up and is pretty secure by
default.
