It's just effort. Install CDs from 6.1 and before couldn't boot most
UDMA66 chipsets, so it was effort to get anywhere. And a small messup with
your initrd or your lilo.conf meant ages playing about swapping drives &
stuff. I'd stick /boot on a standard controller, if possible.
