[ILUG] Helix GNOME

[ILUG] Helix GNOME

I've just installed Helix GNOME (over RH6.2), and when I restarted X...
WOW! :) For anybody who likes cool desktops, this looks really REALLY
nice. Look has been tweaked nicely, main menu is a lot more configurable.
Quicklaunch applet thingy looks nice at last :) Alpha transparency on
images makes such a difference! If you've got a Palm (I don't yet :( ) you
can try out all the development conduit stuff - that comes with it too.

You also get development versions of dia, gimp, Eye of GNOME, basically
it's a really easy way to get the cutting edge of GNOME devel.

Oh the floppy disk formatter dies every time, and dia and ggv can be a
mite unstable, but other than that the whole system is lovely! And Helix
seem to have patched the memory leak from gnome 1.1.9, in case you were
wondering about that.

Gary.

It might look like I'm doing nothing, but at the cellular level I'm
  really quite busy.
